Easter Surprise!

Easter is a special occasion that comes and goes every year. It is a special day because it is the day that Jesus Christ, Son of God is risen from the dead and it is also the time that people go to church to see the purple cloth being taken off from the Cross of Jesus Christ so that people know that Jesus is risen from the dead.

HOP! HOP! HOP! HOP! Bounced the Easter bunny

SNIP! SNIP! SNIP! SNIP! Snipped the Easter bunny

It was Easter and the Easter bunny went to every house in New Zealand delivering Easter eggs and eating all the carrots that people kept in their houses. The Easter bunny was very happy, with the exception of  one house he visited.

He did not like William’s house.  When Easter bunny went to William‘s house to deliver his Easter eggs, there were no carrots waiting for him in the fridge, the bowl or any other place where fruit and veggies’ could be stored.  It was a disappointed Easter bunny  that left him only one Easter egg.

On Easter day William went down stairs to look for his Easter eggs, he was very upset. He found only one Easter egg, well, not really an egg more like a chocolate Easter bunny. He wondered why he did not get more than one, and ran outside to where his mum was on their deck and cried on her shoulder.

While William  was crying he saw  a shooting star and  he wished  that everyday could be Easter. That night as William got ready for bed, at midnight, he saw a bright light outside his house.  He looked out of the window and saw a bunny, he knew it wasn’t a bunny from planet Earth because it was walking on two legs with a bag in his hands. William ran down stairs screaming
“ THERE’S AN EASTER BUNNY OUTSIDE OF MY HOUSE!”
His  parents were so frightened that they woke up from their beauty sleep and said, “William if you keep screaming you will scare the bunny away, that’s why Santa Claus always comes late at night because he does not want anyone to see him, the same as the bunnies so shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh”  William was very upset that his mum and dad did not believe that there's an Easter bunny so he ran out with a camera to take a photo , but when he got there, the bunny was gone.

New School, New Technicraft and New Teacher!

Frankie admiring my work!

Have you ever wondered what it will feel like when you go to another school? Would you find it  scary? Would  you be shy? Has anyone told you when you go to another school people from that school will bully you?  Well from my own personal experience, those rumours are not necessary true.

Today the Seniors of Saint Patrick’s School went to Pakuranga Intermediate for Technicraft. Once we arrived,  we were split into two groups, the year eights went to the Electronic class where their teacher, Mr Clark introduced himself.  At the same time, the year sevens went to the Materials class and met their teacher Mr Nair.

The first project for the year 8 students was to design and construct a frog.  Initially I had the feeling that this task was like a colouring competition but later when the  electronic things were added, it began to  look like a real science project.   The electronic components we used included LED’s  (Light Emitting Diodes), Copper tape and Memory wire.

When you put the LED into the little hole on the eye of the frog, you had to make sure that the positive wire (long wire) went on the right side of the copper tape and that the negative wire (short wire) went to the left side of the copper tape.   Following this the wire needed to be soldered.  The soldering machine was a bit dangerous, as it was hot!
It looks like a strange metal iron tube and it is used to melt the end of the wire, it kind of acts like glue.

It was a new and challenging experience for me and I was extremely proud of my effort and the final product.
